Blog Post #1


    In this class I hope to learn about all the different ways to utilize technology in the classroom, whether I am the student or the teacher. Since I hope to become an elementary school teacher, I think the skills that I will learn in this class will be very important and useful to my career. So far, I believe Canva will be my most used tool in the classroom. I aim to master the use of Canva and apply it all throughout my future teaching career.
    Prior to this class, I used multiple forms of technology in my K-12 schooling. I mostly used MS Word, MS Teams, and MS PowerPoint. In my senior year of high school, I took multiple dual enrollment classes so I am also very familiar with Canvas. Out of these main technological resources, I think I am the most skilled in MS Word and PowerPoint. This is because I took a Digital Info Tech (DIT) class in high school where MS Word and PowerPoint were the main focuses. 
    My current PLN is based around my hope to become a teacher. An online tool that I use to aid in this is TikTok. Here I watch teachers all around the world and experience many different teaching styles and techniques. My current PLN also includes my mom, as she is an elementary school teacher and I look up to her for advice. To support my learning needs and goals, I regularly use Google Calendar to stay organized with my assignments and events.

    Hi Harper! I also want to utilize Microsoft more as I feel that it provides a lot of help towards academic success. I also love that you included TikTok in your PLN as social media serves as such a great tool to grow and learn from your peers.

    I also want to become a elementary school teacher so I enjoyed reading about what kind of tools you like to use. I also love watching teacher TikToks! Its really interesting to hear about other educator's teaching styles and teacher tips.

 I used MS Word at least once a week in high school. That being said, I only ever used it for writing essays so I am not very familiar with the design aspect of MS Word. I did take a technology class my freshman year of high school that touched on it, but not enough to be familiar and it was a long time ago. I do not use any other word processing software. I prefer to use MS Word because that is what all of my teachers used.  I think the most important ISTE standard is Collaborator. Blog Post 3

 As a future educator, I recognize the importance of copyright and fair use. In my classroom, I will make sure to respect the copyright laws of any learning materials I use, any instructional materials I make, and any work my students create. Something new I learned was that there are multiple different types of copyright laws. I think it is good that there are many variations though because not everyone wants the exact same copyright laws on their work. I think that cyberbullying is a big concern in today's digital age. A possible solution for this is to make students aware of the effects. Cyberbullying needs to be addressed and discipled just as much as bullying. Students are told over and over again not to be a bully throughout their school years.
